Christmas Eve Prayer

On this Christmas Eve, may our hearts be like a manger. Humble, yet open to the new life the Holy Child brings. May our busy and broken lives not turn Him away. May we find in the baby Jesus, the hope and healing that we need to move forward. May the light that He brings, guide us on our journey and may His wisdom inspire us to share the Good News with others. Amen.

Lighting the Christ Candle

Leader: Tonight, angels far and near sing tender lulabies; animals and shepherds crowd in tight, glowing with adoration, while a muffled cry slips out to greet the world.

People:  Tonight, we give thanks to every child among us. Each new birth, regardless of circumstances, reminds us of the preciousness of life, the potential of tomorrow, the promise of God.

Leader: On this Christmas Eve, we light the Christ candle for the child–King, the infant Redeemer, the lowly-Lord. He  is born and nothing will ever be the same!

Candlelight Service

Please form a circle around the sanctuary. As we move to the circle please leave personal items in the pews and take only your candle and the insert for Silent Night. The Pastor will light her candle with the Christ Candle and pass the light to the person on either side of her. Each person will pass the light to the next person. Please use caution with the lighted candles; tip only the unlit candle into the lighted candle to receive the light. Adults please help the children.

The First Noel

The first Noel the angel did say

in fields where they lay

keeping their sheep

on a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel

over the hills and everywhere
