a Ceremony of Lessons and Carols. Let the much-loved words and songs of this season fill us body and soul, giving us hope and helping us respond to that great plea that permeates this season:

for peace on earth and good will to all. The service will close with the singing of Silent Night as we light our candles.

Flowers for the Sanctuary

Every Christmas season we are invited to bring in a poinsettia to adorn the sanctuary.  For those who wish to do so in honor or in memory of a loved one, you are invited to fill out a form listing the names of those involved and they will be published in the Christmas Eve bulletin. Forms may be found on the table at the rear of the sanctuary and in the office.

 

January Newsletter and Annual Reports

Keep in mind that your articles for the newsletter will be due next Monday, Dec. 20. Also, it's time to think about the Annual Reports. Boards and Committees, your reports should be into the office by the end of the year. If you need an extension of time, please call Peggy in the office at 536-9821

 

Can You Help?

Cristine Conklin is in need of a ride to a doctor's appointment to the Dundee Family Health Clinic on Monday, Dec. 20, at 9:45am. Call Cristine at 536-0415.

 

Help Is Needed

Stewardship Update

As of Sunday, December 12, thirty-one pledges had been turned in.

Their total puts us only about 1/2 of the way towards the goal of our proposed local and mission budgets for 2011.

Please turn in your pledge sheets as soon as possible.

There are extra pledge sheets available on the table at the rear of the sanctuary.

Custodial Service

In order to continue our once a month cleaning service, we need someone from our congregation who would be willing to pledge $15 per month for 2011. If this is something you're interested in doing, please contact either Sheryl Robbins or Diane DeLooza. Thank You.

Donation from the Historical Society

The book “Inheritance of Time-Guidelines for the Village of Penn Yan Historic Preservation District” has been donated to our church from the Historical Society. It can be found in the church library if anyone is interested in looking at it.

 

Community  News

 

Jail Ministry

Is in need of devotional materials that can be distributed to the inmates at the county jail. If you have any leftover devotional booklets (such as Secret Place) and you would be willing to share them with the inmates, they may be left in the church office. This will be an ongoing ministry, so any contributions now or in the future will be greatly appreciated.

 

Red Cross Needs & Things

There is a  need for: diapers; size 3,4,5,6, paper towels, laundry soap and dish soap. Look for the “Red Cross” box in the office

 

Food Pantry

There is always a need for breakfast cereals and boxed macaroni and cheese. Anything you can do to help is very much appreciated!!

 

Office for the Aging Sunday Bus Riders

You are asked to contact Mickie Christiansen at 536-6345 if you wish to remain on the riders list.
