The Church’s Mission

Mission Nugget

Charles & Ruth Fox – Missionaries in Thailand

Chuck and Ruth Fox work with the approximately 75,000 Akha hilltribe people living in Northern Thailand. Chuch helps to provide education to pastors of various church groups within the Fellowship of Akha Christian and the Akha Churches of Thailand (ACT) through Bible training sessions and story-telling workshops. He also visits and works with the pastors in their villages and places of ministry, gaining insight into their culture and how it influences their work. A particular emphasis is a Christian education program for the children of the villages. He works with villagers in areas of drug rehabilitation, development projects and healthcare to improve their quality of life.

John 3: 16

Am I Obeying?

My sister, who teaches at a preschool, shared this with me. Every day little Andrew asks her, “Am I obeying? Am I being good?” He wants to be a good boy and just to make sure, he asks. Usually she assures him that he is indeed being very good. However sometimes she gently guides him in a better direction.
Andrew reminds me that I need to ask daily, Am I obeying you, Lord? Am I being kind, forgiving, loving? Am I being good? Do I need an adjustment on my behavior, my thinking, or my actions?

God will gently guide us into an effective Christian witness. But we must be willing to humble ourselves, and like young Andrew, make attitude adjustments, listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Let us be  willing to change what isn’t pleasing to God and to receive forgiveness with grateful hearts.

Prayer: Help me, Lord to be obedient… changing what isn’t pleasing to you and receiving forgiveness. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
