Creator God, You move through our lives in ways that we do not always understand. You have a purpose for us. Each encounter that we have with another person is a divine appointment. Help us to see that our words and our actions are meant to touch the lives of others. Help us to look for and to invite your Holy Spirit into all of our relationships. Church Pot-Luck Luncheon! - Next Sunday, November 6 @ Noon

Mark your calendar for the annual Stewardship Pot-Luck Luncheon to kick off our Stewardship Drive! Bring a dish-to-share and your own table service. The Bd of Trustees will provide beverages. Your Stewardship Cards will be available for you to pick up.


Turkey Walk - Sunday, November 6

The Penn Yan Area Council of Churches is hosting the Annual Turkey Walk to raise funds to purchase meat for the Christmas Food Baskets.  Walkers will meet here at First Baptist Church parking lot at 1 pm to register. The walk begins at 1:30 pm. Thanks to you and the community, $2,903 was raised at last year's Turkey Walk.

Can you walk? Will you sponsor someone who is willing to do the walking?


Lunch With a Missionary - Monday, November 7 @ Noon

In just one week you have the opportunity to meet Tim Long, a missionary to Mexico that we have been supporting. On Monday, November 7, Tim will be here at FBC to meet with you and to talk about his mission and to answer your questions about life as a Baptist Missionary. Bring a brown bag lunch and invite a friend to join you.


Thanksgiving Food Baskets – just 3 weeks away!

Once again this year the Deacons will pack 42 Thanksgiving Food Baskets to help give needy families a thankful holiday. The Deacons, out of their funds will purchase the turkeys and they are seeking donations from the congregation to purchase the remaining foods. They do the shopping for you! Then on November 20, you are invited to join them in the Great Room to pack the baskets.

New Support Group

Are you a caregiver? Do you feel isolated? Do you fight with feelings of guilt? Do you ever want to just be able to talk with someone for reassurance or direction? Introducing “We Are Caregivers”. A casual support group to help you know you're not alone and to get together with others going through similar circumstances.  Questions – contact:

Help Wanted

  1. Someone who can act as a liaison and help keep the lines of communication open between PYFBC and the Food for the Needy Program. Call the church office if you can serve in this capacity.
  2. Cheerful and Friendly: congregation members who can serve as greeters and lay readers. Call the church office or a member of the Diaconate.

Board of Missions

Thank you for your Missions contributions on October 23. We received $708 in pledges and $40.80 from the Loose Offering. World Mission Offering receipts were $209. The total to date is $319 toward our goal of $1000.

The Penn Yan Academy Drama Club Fall Production of “The Diary of Anne Frank”


An impassioned drama about the real lives of eight Jews hiding for two years from the Nazis in a  concealed storage annex in Amsterdam, “The Diary of Anne Frank” captures their daily existence – their fears, loneliness, hope, laughter and grief


Thursday,  Friday, & Saturday, November 3, 4, 5 at  7 pm Sunday, November 6, at 2 pm at the Penn Yan Academy Auditorium. Ticket prices: $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and students at the door. Advance tickets available at Long's Cards & Books, and Pinckneys Hardware for $8 and $7.


Food for the Needy:

Cereal, peanut butter, canned veggies/fruits, pasta and sauce are needed at this time.


Backpack Program:

Your donations of fruit/applesauce/pudding cups, granola bars, individual size foods etc are appreciated to help feed school age kids over the weekends.
