The Church’s Mission

Mission Nugget  -

The Story of A Burmese Immigrant in the United States:

Anna Soe became a U.S. citizen in December 2012. This is the first time that she has ever been “embraced” by any country and now at age 21 she can finally say she has a “homeland!” The government of her original homeland of Myanmar/Burma rejected her and her family because they are Karen and not “Burmese”, forcing them from their home. Anna’s father died in the refugee camp but in 2007, as official refugees, Anna, her mother, and three of her sisters came to live in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Anna’s family, along with 150 another Karen, have been welcomed by the Grace Baptist Church in Kansas City in recent years. Anna has graduated from high school and is now in community college. She wants to get a nursing degree and work to help her people with their health needs, hoping someday to even become a medical doctor. Anna asks American Baptist to pray for her people, both here in America and in Myanmar/Burma. Pray that real and lasting peace will come to Myanmar/Burma so all peoples from every ethnic group can enjoy equal rights as citizens, and that they can truly call Myanmar/Burma their homeland.

A Prayer for Missionaries and The World Mission Offering

Dear God, thank you for people today, who like the Judsons, go to other countries to share the good news message of the Bible and show your love for them. Thank you also for the chance to help those missionaries as we give our money to the World Mission Offering. We pray this in the name of Jesus, who said we are to take his message to the whole world! Amen.
