Volunteers are needed in the nursery during the worship service. If you are able to sign up for just one Sunday a month see Ethel Clancy.

Can You Help?

For the past several years our church has given Thanksgiving Baskets to needy families in the community. This year, if we want this tradition to continue we need 1 or possibly 2 or 3 people to work together to oversee the project. Call the church office and leave your name if this is something you can help with.

Reminders

> There is a clip board on the front pew for you to sign up to be greeters and lay readers. Check it and fill in where you can.

> Articles for the November edition of the church newsletter are due to the office on Monday, Oct. 15.

Mission Income

For September 30th was $281. The total income for the treasury for the month of September was $1762. Turkey Walk

The Annual Turkey Walk will be held on Sunday, November 4. Leaving from the First Presbyterian Church, registration will start at 1 pm and the walk at 1:30 pm. This fundraiser will buy the turkeys and hams for the Christmas for the Needy food baskets. We need to assemble our team of walkers!!! There will be a 5 mile and a 1 mile route. You can do it!

Food for the Needy

The food pantry can use items such as cereals, mac n cheese, breakfast cereals, pudding/jello/fruit cups spaghetti and sauce.

Backpack Program

Donations of breakfast/granola bars, cereal, instant oatmeal, mac & cheese, jello/pudding/fruit cups, tuna etc and help packing on Wednesdays at 4 pm are greatly appreciated. These foods help keep the kids fed when mom and dads aren't at home to prepare meals.

Normally you would have received in the October Newsletter the envelopes for the World Mission Offering. They were forgotten and left out. We have made them available in the pews. If you know of someone who doesn't make it to the worship services but, would like to contribute, call the church office at 536-9821 and we will see to it that they are mailed one.

You are invited

….to join the PY United Methodist Church as they bid farewell to Engel Heggie as she will be leaving very soon moving to New Hampshire to be near family. Engel has been a valuable asset to the PY Community as teacher, drug court volunteer, YC concert series member etc. The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2-4 pm.  Cards the size of a postcard with your name and picture, contact info, a special remembrance and/or verse are appreciated.

Notes

-        The PYUMC will show the film “The Line: Poverty in America – It's Not What You Think” on Oct. 13th, at 6 pm with a potluck supper. For more information call 536-6711.

Welcome to First Baptist Church of Penn Yan.

We are glad you joined us and hope you’ll feel at home, as we celebrate our faith and praise God together. In the pew in front of you, you will find a “get-to-know-you” card. Please take a moment to fill it out and place it in the offering plate.

You are invited to bring your children to the nursery during the service for a safe and Christian environment so that you may more fully experience Worship. Following today’s service please come to enjoy coffee, refreshments and fellowship in the Great Room.
