The bread used in communion today is Matzo. Matzo is unleavened flat bread. Pieces of unleavened bread are eaten by the Jews during Passover.

Mary & Martha Circle

This ladies group will start up their meetings after taking the summer off. The first meeting will be this Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. Bring a sandwich and someone new to the group. Marge Cornell will bring a dessert for the group and will lead devotions for this first meeting.

 

Association Fall Rally

Sunday, September 14

First Baptist Church of Geneva will host the next meeting of the FL Association. J. Brent Walker, Executive Director,Baptist Joint committee for Religious Liberty will be the guest speaker.

Registration begins at 2:30 p.m.

Devotions – 2:55 p.m.

Program – 3 p.m.

Dish-to-Pass Supper – 5 p.m.

 

Lay Studies Course

 The Finger Lakes Association will offer a course in Baptist History. The course will take place Saturdays,  September 20 - Nov. 22 from 10 – noon. Completion of the course will earn a certificate in Lay Studies. Ed Carey will teach the class.

Parenting 101

This parenting class will begin meeting next Sunday, Sept. 14, following the worship service. The purpose of this class will be to help reinforce pro-active parenting in a Christian household. For more information contact Eileen Modafarri at 694-8267.

Mark A.B. Lawrence leads an active performing career in oratorio, opera, and recital literature. He is in demand as a recitalist and master teacher, having performed at Cornell University, St. Lawrence University, Colgate University, Ithaca College and throughout the northeast.

 

Bill Cowdery serves as musical director and organist of the First Congregational Church in Ithaca. He has also taught on the music faculties of Cornell University, Ithaca College, Colgate University, and Keuka College.

 


 

Pastor John would like to thank the following people for their help in the “hay” project: Trevor Conrad, Matt Scutt, Johnny Tharp, Stan Ovens, Greg Marion, Sean Ahearn, and Eileen Modafarri.
