Today is 5th Sunday

Today is our Deficit Reduction opportunity. Every month that there is a fifth Sunday, we use to encourage “extra” giving towards the reduction of the $12,000 deficit in the budget. Special envelopes are in the bulletins for whatever extra amount – large or small - that you feel you can contribute. Thank you!

“Houses of Worship” Carnival - Saturday, September 6

To be held at the Chapel lawn at Keuka College on Saturday, September 6th, from 1-4 pm. We will have a game booth as we talk with students and let them know of our presence within the community. Interested in helping out with this ministry? See Rev. Sanden.

Rally Day - Sunday, September 7

What is Rally Day? It’s just for kids isn’t it? Webster’s defines “rally” as: verb: “to draw or call together for a common purpose”, noun: “a renewal of energy in joint action”. During the summer, our many activities and vacations continually draw congregation members away from each other. Summer can also be a spiritually draining time. We intend to keep on track with our Bible readings and regular worship. But summer’s hectic schedules easily draw us away from our good intentions. Come the end of summer we need a “renewal of energy” when it comes to spiritual matters. Join us on Sunday, September 7th, as we renew our Sunday School classes and welcome those who’ve been away on vacations etc. As we seek the Holy Spirit’s power to “renew our energy for worship”, for praying, serving, witnessing.

The Church’s Mission

Mission  Nugget  -  American Baptist Churches of NYS

The ABC/NYS Biennial 2014, will be held October 3 & 4, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Utica, NY. The Theme Scripture will be: “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.” Ephesians 2:19-20. President Rosey Oaks-Lee writes: “When we gather in October, we will experience and explore a variety of ministries: Not to find one ‘right’ way, but to know and understand each other. We look and sound different, and yet we follow the same Lord, are grounded in the same Scripture, minister in the same world. Join us in October. Take it in. Meet a new brother or sister. Learn how they experience God. Bask in the amazing household of God. Then we move out together. Our world needs our message and mission as much as ever.

A Prayer for the American Baptist Churches, New York State

Loving God, we pray for the shared and helpful ministries at the American Baptist Churches of NYS. We pray for the Region’s staff and the many volunteers who serve as members of the Boards and Committees that assist our pastors and churches across the Empire State. We also ask your blessing on the gathering of church representatives at the October 3-4 Biennial Gatherings at Tabernacle Baptist Church.  May all those present sense your presence and the leadership of the Holy Spirit as they explore ways in which we can share in ministry here and around the world. These things we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Board of Missions Backpack Spotlight Items:

Keep in mind that we do continue to help feed our school-age kids over the summer months. These kids “get to” eat during the school year because of the “free/reduced priced” school lunches that they qualify for, so when school is not in session, then what? That is why the Bd of Missions has undertaken this project. It takes a community to raise a child. Thank you for what you can, and do, contribute.

The August item to benefit Milly’s Backpack Program:  Breakfast/Granola Bars
