Keuka College Carnival - August 29
Once again this year, Keuka College will hold a carnival-type event at the start of the fall semester (August 29) that will give area churches a chance to connect with students interested in attending church services. Churches are encouraged to have games and treats to draw the students in and give an opportunity to hand out information. There will be a live band providing music. We need 2 or 3 people to help out. See Pastor Steve if you would like to be a part of this.

Yard Sale News
Our sale raised $1,441 for our church. I want to sincerely thank the committee members Karen Rasmussen, Karen Sanden and Bill Decker for helping to organize, publicize, set up, carry out and tear down the yard sale. I also want to give a big thank you to the volunteers who helped: Rev. Sanden, George Jensen, Lyle Conrad, Diane DeLooza, Erma Mullins, Don Lawrence and Greg Marion. Your help was a life saver. I also want to thank those who contributed items to the sale and/or purchased items. Thank you all!!!

Our Church's Mission

Mission Around the World Katherine and Wayne Niles have served in the Democratic Republic of Congo for many years. Wayne serves as a seconded missionary to Interchurch Medical Assistance and is involved in full-time service with health and development activities in Congo. Additionally, Wayne has been helping Congolese people through a development project to grow more food. Among other activities, the project distributes new seeds, disease resistant crops and offers women’s groups small loans to purchase machines for hulling, milling, and producing oil. Katherine is working with a group of Congolese Christian professionals in training Community leaders, urban and rural, to be promoters of health in their communities. The staff of a church related health center in Kinshasa is also using her expertise to make their medical ministry more holistic as they care for urban poor people.Languages used in Ministry: French, Lingala, Kituba, and Kikongol

Mission Budget Contributions
Thank you for your contributions to our Mission Budget of $458. We were able to pay our united Mission Basics and the PSALM Fund donations. We also received $11.50 in Backpack Program Pennies, bringing that total to $16.80.


Community News and Events

Yates County Summer Concert Series - Wednesday, August 9
Weekly concerts are held at 6:30 pm on the Yates County Courthouse Lawn.
In case of bad weather, concerts will be held in our sanctuary.
This week - Penn Yam Community Band

G Force VBS - August 17-21
Children will experience God’s unstoppable love and discover how to fuel up and put God’s love in action. VBS at Penn Yan United Methodist Church, August 17-21, 9 am to noon. Ages 3 to grade 5th. For more info or to volunteer, call the church office at 536-6711 or Linda Snyder at 536-8844.
