Church  News

 

Finger Lakes Association Meeting

Today, June 24th at Altay Baptist Church

Registration begins at 2:30 pm, devotions by Pastor Evelyn Emerson at 2:45 pm, program at 3 pm. There will be a dish to pass supper at 5 pm, with the desserts and beverages provided by the host church. The program: Finding & Using Your Spiritual Gifts. All members of the churches are encouraged to attend for an enlightening time together.

 

VBS Mission Project

This year our VBS children will be collecting for the Sta. Lucia Elementary School in the Philippines (same project as last year).  Items such as new or gently-used school supplies and children's books will be collected during the week of June 25-29.

 

From the Bd of Trustees

Come one, come all to the Courthouse lawn Wednesday evenings to enjoy the free outdoor concerts and grab a bite to eat beginning this next Wednesday, June 27th.  The Trustees will once again be grilling hot dogs and hamburgs at their concession stand as a fund raiser at these concerts. We need help with serving food etc. Please come early to help with set up at 5 pm if you can. Thanks in advance for lending a hand!!

 

In Need of Transportation

Cris Conklin needs a ride to the Dundee Family Health Center on Tuesday, July 2, for an 11 am appt. Call Cris at 536-0415.

~ Ralph Clancy for mowing the lawn, helping to beautify our grounds and make them welcoming.

~ Sue Willson and her staff of volunteers who live out their faith in ministry to the children of our community with VBS!

~ The Miller Family and the Diaconate for the picnic to welcome Rev. Sanden.

~ Rich Stewart, Jack Clancy, Stan Ovens  and Greg Miller for driving the church van and office for the aging bus that brings our shut ins to church.

~ Our choir, soloists, music director and organist for their ministry of music all year long!

~ Sunday School teachers and Nursery volunteers!!!

 

Congratulations

to Stan & Cindy Ovens on the birth of their 1st granddaughter, Leah Niamh (Irish pronunciation Nieve), she weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and was born on June 13. Congratulations!!!

 

Mission Receipts for June 17th

There is still time to give to the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering. The total received to date is $467.00. Last Sunday's Treasury receipts were $299. Thank you. Please remember to keep up your contributions during the summer months.

Community News

 

Community Supper

You are invited to a free supper hosted by the Penn Yan United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 26, from 5:30 – 7 pm. The supper takes place every last Tuesday of the month, it is free and open to the community.

 

Office for the Aging

The Yates County Office for the Aging is in need of volunteers.

>Home Delivered Meal Drivers: both weekly scheduled drivers and substitute drivers to delivers meals to home bound seniors.  Mileage is paid and training is provided. If you would prefer not to use your own vehicle, we do have an agency vehicle you can drive.

>Phone Friends: these volunteers make brief, friendly phone calls to home bound seniors to provide support and to enhance social contact.

To volunteer, call Stephanie Bates at 536-5515.
