Church News

To Kevin Ames who has graduated from the

Liverpool ITT Technical Institute!

Movie Night Tonight - I’d Climb the Highest Mountain

An Endearing Story of Faith and Hope…The story of a city girl who doesn’t know much about being a ministers wife when she comes to Georgia’s hill country with her new husband, a dedicated circuit preacher. Determined to learn, Mary stands by her husband’s side as he watches over his congregation, sharing good times, hard times, even cruel tragedy which tests her faith. But through it all, Mary discovers she’s part of a special calling she wouldn’t give up for anything.

Remember to bring a snack to share and a comfy chair if you wish.

The Date Has Been Changed

ThisWednesday, June 17, the Ladies Fellowship Class and Mary & Martha Circle will enjoy lunch at the Antique Inn at noon. All ladies of the church are invited! Call Marge Cornell at 536-6607 to make your reservations.

Trip to Camp Vick “Open House” This Saturday!

We plan to leave early on Saturday morning' June 20, and be at camp from 10 am to 3 pm for tours, activities, and lunch. This will be a good time for “old campers” to refresh their memories of learning about God in the out-of-doors and for “new campers” to learn about the programs and facilities offered for children, youth and adults. We are looking for drivers who are willing to transport the “young and old” for a great day at camp. Call the church office (536-9821) if you would like to enjoy a great day at camp!

CROCODILE DOCK – Vacation Bible School is only 2 weeks away!

June 29 through July 3   ~   From 8:30am to Noon

This year the kids will be sinking their teeth into BIG fun

at Crocodile Dock.

It’s where fearless kids shine God’s light!

We’ll help kids discover how to see God in everyday life -

something we call God Sightings.

The fun starts at 8:30 am and will end at noon.

Registration forms are available on the foyer table or in Sunday School.

Undies & personal care items

You’ve filled one box for the Cameron Community Center! We’ve decided to start another box and leave it out for the month of June. Keep watching the sales for sox, underwear, tee shirts etc. Remember our local dollar stores are available if you don’t get out of town to Walmarts or Kmarts etc.

“A Dollar and a Prayer” Offering  - Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21.

Since we want to encourage every young person to attend church camp sometime while they are growing up, we collect funds for Church Camp Scholarships each year. These scholarships are distributed by the Camping Director at our American Baptist Churches/NYS and they seek to make it possible for every young person to attend camp who wishes to, regardless of the ability of their parents or church to pay their way. Thousands of dollars are spent each year for these “camperships” and they are much appreciated. There will be “A Dollar and A Prayer” Offering envelops in the bulletin on June 21. Please come prepared to offer your dollars and your prayers to make an important difference in the life of some young person.

LOVE GIFT is an over and above gift that goes toward the funding of American Baptist Mission. It began in 1932, during the Depression, when it was feared that contributions would drop and severely cut back on mission work. (Sound familiar?) The first boxes developed were named “Silver Boxes” because of the silver color of the coins to be placed in them and symbolizing that behind every cloud is a silver lining. On these boxes was printed: “If we know, we care; if we care, we pray; if we pray, we give.” Later they were called “MITE Boxes” after the widow’s mite in Scripture. The term LOVE GIFT came about in 1941 when the boxes were redesigned to compliment the women’s annual program theme “Love.”

The boxes have changed in looks throughout the years, envelopes have been added, and new ways of collecting Love Gift have been introduced, but the fundamental story of Love Gift continues unchanged: women giving over and above other offerings out of a sense of love, faith, and gratitude to God for all of God’s blessings and in recognition of our need to share these blessings with others.

I would like to challenge all women in our local ABW to increase our giving to LOVE GIFT during the coming year. Use the purple Love Gift box if you have one or make your own container. (I have an empty peanut butter jar.) Here are some suggestions of ways to make this giving fun as well as meaningful.

¨      Look for Love Gift dollars: L or G printed at the beginning of

the serial code on dollar bills.

¨      Choose a certain coin and drop it in your container each

time you receive one as change.

¨      Follow the daily calendar of suggestions for blessings.

(Copies are available on the table at the back of the sanctuary, by the pink box containing Love Gift envelopes.)

I would like to see all of us make a real commitment to LOVE GIFT over the summer and to have a special collection and dedication of these gifts in the fall, perhaps as part of our Women’s Sunday service in September. We are “Women…destined for God’s Purpose!”

Please join me in this challenge.

The Heart of Worship

When the music fades

And all is stripped away

And I simply come

Longing just to bring

Something that’s of worth

That will bless Your heart

And I’ll bring You more than a song

For a song in itself

Is not what You have required

You search much deeper within

Though the ways things appear

You’re looking into my heart.

I’m coming back to the heart of worship

And it’s all about You, it’s all about You, Jesus

I’m sorry Lord, for the thing I’ve made it

It’s all about you, Jesus

A king of endless worth

No one could express

How much You deserve

Though I’m weak and poor

All I have is Yours

Every single breath

And I’ll bring You more than a song

For a song in itself

Is not what You have required

You search much deeper within

Though the way things appear

You’re looking into my heart.

I’m coming back to the heart of worship

And it’s all about You, it’s all about You, Jesus

I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it

It’s all about You, Jesus
