Calling All Men!

We are interested in establishing a Men of FBC group. There will be an organizational meeting of all interested men on Saturday, April 28, at 9:30 am at our church. Coffee and donuts will be provided. We hope to see all men of the church at this meeting.

 

Needed:

Clean rags and old towels for our cleaning service. You may leave them with the office. Thank You.

 

Missions Report

Mission Receipts for April 15th: For the Treasury: $131; Easter Offering: $100 (total of $633 toward a goal of $800); “Pennies” $22 (total of $108.46); The “Pennies” will be sent to Milly's Pantry at the end of the month. Any received after that will be sent in at the end of the year. Thank You.

Community News

 

Community Supper

The Penn Yan United Methodist Church will hold their monthly

Free Community Supper on Tuesday, April 24th, from 5:30-7 pm.

 

Chicken Barbecue

The Yates County Relay for Life Team Footprints, will be having a chicken barbecue on Saturday, May 5th, from 11 am until ? at the Lyon's National Bank parking lot. The complete dinner includes: 1/2 chicken, salt potatoes, macaroni salad, coleslaw, roll w/butter, dessert and beverage ALL for $8.50. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Thank you in helping us in our race to find a cure. For pre-sale tickets, please see Pam Scutt or Stan Ovens.

 

CROP Walk:    Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty

May 6, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church beginning at 1 pm. ~ There is a five mile route and a one mile Golden Mile route. We need walkers as well as sponsors. The CROP Walk helps support the International Relief and Development work of Church World Service as well as local hunger-fighting efforts. Please contact the church office (536-9821) for donation envelopes and for more information.

 

Food for the Needy

Non-perishable foods such as pasta, pasta sauces, peanut butter, cereals, canned vegetables, and fruits are always needed. Thanks to everyone for contributing to this program to help feed the hungry in our area. Helpers are always welcomed. Distributions take place the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6-7 pm and the last Friday of the month from 9 am – noon.

 

Backpack Program

Sends easy to prepare foods home with school age children to keep them fed over the weekends. Foods such as: breakfast/cereal/snack bars, crackers, macaroni & cheese, instant oatmeal, cereals are always needed. Volunteers are always welcomed on Wednesdays at

4 pm to help pack.
