Hearts & Hands Ministry
Are you interested in reaching out to our congregation and community in times of both celebration and heartache? If you are, this ministry is for you! We are gathering items to put in “Blessing Bags/Baskets” to be given as a “hug” to let others know we share in their joy and in their time of need. If you're interested in making a donation some suggested items are: Hershey Kisses & Hugs* Chocolate Bars* Frozen Casseroles* Cookies, Crackers, Tea, Cocoa* Lap Blankets* Bubble Bath* Soaps & Lotions* Puzzle Books* Gift Cards* Slipper Socks* Coloring Books & Crayons* Small Stuffed Animals* Coupons for House/Yard Work/Transportation*
Of course monetary donations are always appreciated! Watch for upcoming workshop days where we will be making some of these homemade items. If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, quilting, making cards, crafting of any type or just plain fellowshipping, please come join us! All you need to bring is your heart and hands ready to serve the Lord! Contact Cheryl Stewart or Pam Scutt for further information.
Stan Ovens is retiring as Treasurer after 24+ years in the position. We greatly need someone to “learn the ropes” and take on this responsibility on July 1, 2013. In the hope that additional information will help inspire someone to step up and try this important position in the Church, here's a listing of the duties of the treasurer: *sign checks as needed (payroll and regular monthly bills will be handled online), *review and sign all paperwork submitted by the Bookkeeper, *return signed paperwork to the Bookkeeper for filing, and *present monthly reports to Trustees.
We have hired Jan Hafner as our Bookkeeper. Her duties include: *prepare payroll, *accounts payable (including all required tax forms), *provide paperwork to Treasurer for signature, and *keep filing up to date.
Love Gift Challange - Fact #2 about LOVE GIFT:
ABW Ministries contributes over $3 million annually to AB
. LOVE GIFT is a significant part of this giving and a part of UNITED MISSION, the basic funding source for American Baptist Mission, thereby supporting the full range of American Baptist Mission . It's an offering over-and-above our regular tithes and pledges. *** Are you scanning those dollar bills for an L or G? Remember... we have a very generous anonymous member who will MATCH DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR everything we collect over the month of April. Mission
On April 14th, $60 was received for the
MissionTreasury. An additional $20 was given for the Easter Offering making the total $682. Thank you. Please remember that next Sunday is the last Sunday to bring in your pennies for the Backpack Program. Any additional contributions will be sent in at the end of the year.
Our Special Interest Missionary, Courtney Crisler, at The Place in Norwich, NY, has clearly made a difference with her more than 20 years of nonprofit work, such as spending many summers around the world with children in military families, educating minorities about health needs and self-care, and coordinating activities for individuals of various ages and abilities. She says she has adopted as her life's motto the popular starfish story/poem. Although the piece can take various forms, it's gist is the same: a person tosses a beached starfish into the ocean and, when an onlooker comments that thousands of starfish need help, the thrower responds, “I made a difference to that one.”
