Penn Yan, New York                                                               10:00 AM

We, as God's people, will use our gifts and talents to seek out and bring people to Christ

by maturing in our faith, by deepening our fellowship,

and by caring for people for the honor and glory of God.

Fourth Sunday of Lent

Prelude & Chimes

*Song of Praise                      “Open Our Eyes, Lord”            PB no. 59

Welcome & Announcements

*Call to Worship

Pastor: Open my eyes to peaceful things in life. Songs of peace. Seeds of understanding. Goodness in all people. The spirit of each human being I encounter today.

People: Open my eyes to the world around me. Needs around me. Dangers of injustice and misunderstanding. People we need to understand. The hunger and thirst of our sisters and brothers.

Pastor: Open my eyes to all the people God loves. All the species God cares about on this earth. The beauty and abundance of God's creation. The grandeur of God's creation in every person, place and thing.

People: Open my eyes to love around us. The face of God in those we meet. The divine source of goodness in all people. The good that is available everywhere. The power of forgiveness.

All: Guide me so that I don't stand idly by. Guide me to help according to Your will. Open my eyes to see that I can make a difference in my church, in my neighborhood and in my community.

*Hymn                        “What Wondrous Love Is This”                No. 85

Old Testament Reading        Psalm 86                                OT pg. 652

*Unison Prayer

Loving and Compassionate God, all around us is need. We either close our eyes to the pain around us or we find ourselves overwhelmed by the great needs that we see. Give us hearts of compassion to see what is in front of us. Give us love that we might reach out in love. Give us peace so that we are not overwhelmed, but that instead we might trust you to give us the courage and fortitude to accomplish what your Spirit guides us to do, through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Welcome to First Baptist Church of Penn Yan. We are glad you joined us and hope you’ll feel at home, as we celebrate our faith and praise God together. In the pew in front of you, you will find a “get-to-know-you” card. Please take a moment to fill it out and place it in the offering plate.

We invite you to bring your children to the nursery during the service for a safe and Christian environment so that you may more fully experience Worship. Following today’s service please come to enjoy coffee, refreshments and fellowship in the Great Room.

Exit doors are located at the rear of the sanctuary, at the front and out the foyer, and at the rear of the building at the kitchen and stairwell.
