Mission Nugget

Springbrook” (Formerly Upstate Home for Children)

Springbrook is located at 105 Campus Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820. In 1925, Harriet Parish Smith founded the Upstate Baptist Home for Children after experiencing personal tragedy with a child she and her husband adopted. The home, founded on a working farm, served orphaned children, and with tremendous love, many were successfully placed in new homes. By the 1960s the board of directors changed the home’s mission to serve children with disabilities from birth through their adult years, Spring brook, has a heartfelt commitment to serve people with special needs. They take pride in their Christian heritage, family-centered programs, and their ability to meet the ever-changing needs of those they serve. Their educational, residential, therapeutic, habilitation, and community support options span all aspects of, and times in, an individual’s life – from birth through end-of-life.
