Movie Night for Everyone!

Sunday, February 22 @ 7pm

Next Sunday we will be showing the movie “Fireproof.” We have been advertising this as a tool for your marriage. However, in listening to reactions to the movie on the Family Life Network, we are hearing that many singles are also liking this film for what it can show singles about qualities to look for when dating etc. So, everyone is invited to attend, bring friends, spouses, anyone you think might benefit from this message. It would be fun to bring a snack to share too!

Council of Churches

NOTE – There is a change in the meeting schedule.

The meeting of Feb. 23, will be held here at FBC, not PYUMC.

Celebrating 400 Years!

Can you imagine that Baptists have been around that long? The First Baptist congregation was founded in Amsterdam in 1609. So this is a celebration year for Baptist.

To assist in that celebration, the Baptist History and Heritage Society offers two books (at 20% discount) that present our shared history and its relevance for contemporary Baptist life.

Co-published with Mercer University Press, these books focus on Baptist people and Baptist values.

Baptist in Prison: Baptist marched straight into human history into the jails of England and early America defending believer’s baptism, religious liberty, and the separation of church and state. Keith Durso’s book, No Armor for the Back: Baptist Prison Writings, 1600s-1700s (292 pp) captures these developments and will make readers thankful to God for the serious sacrifices endured by our Baptist ancestors. List Price: $23; Our Price: $18.40

Baptists Heroes: Who are our heroes of Baptist history? Julie Whidden Long’s Portraits of Courage: Stories of Baptist Heroes (127pp) tells the stories of fourteen courageous Baptist, male and female, black and white, who lived in various countries and centuries. Designed especially for older children and younger youth, the book emphasizes the biographical dimension of the Baptist past and highlights personal contributions of the fourteen heroes. List Price:$16; Our Price: $12.80.
