Dear
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The
Executive Minister Search Committee is pleased to inform you that we have
reached an agreement with the Rev. Dr. Donald Rasmussen, who will begin as
Interim Executive Minister with the American Baptist Churches NYS on January
15, 2009.
Don served
as Regional Executive of the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island for 10
years, retiring in 2006. Prior to that, he pastored churches in Rhode Island
and Pennsylvania.
The Search
Committee has asked Don to focus on oversight of staff, troubleshooting,
representing the region in appropriate denominational roles, financial
oversight and board development (Board of Mission and Executive Advisory Task
Force (EATF). We understand he brings a strong background in administration,
comes ready to listen, is familiar with regional executive responsibilities,
and is open to effectively use his skills and experiences in this new setting.
He will be working a 75% time schedule.
We are
excited to have Don working with our region and trust you will have an
opportunity to meet him in the coming months. We encourage you to welcome him
and his wife, Ginny.
If you
have any questions about Don’s appointment or the executive search process,
please feel free to contact one of us. We ask for your prayers for us as we
continue to work on your behalf at this exciting time of transition.
Yours in
Christ,
Rev. Randy Palada Rosemary
