Official Notice of Annual Meeting - Sunday, January 19

First Baptist Church of Penn Yan Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014. The meeting will begin immediately after the worship service. Note this change: There will not be a lunch following the annual meeting on the 19th due to a memorial service for Marla Jean Jensen at 2 pm.


February newsletter items due - Monday, January 20

Reminder: your articles for the February edition of the church newsletter will be due on Monday, January 20th.

FBC Men’s Group - Saturday, January 25th

We will meet on Saturday, January 25th at 8 am for refreshments, devotions, and to begin work in the Baptistry. All men, young men, and boys are invited to join us.


Subs for Super Bowl Sunday – order by Sunday, Jan. 26

Order forms (located on the church tables) are now available for the annual Super Sub Sale to benefit Yates County Habitat for Humanity, to help build another house. Orders need to be in by Sunday, Jan. 26th and subs can be picked up on Feb. 1st or 2nd. All information is on your order form.


Offering Envelopes

Your 2014 Offering Envelopes are on the table in the back of the sanctuary. If you need a statement of giving for your 2013 tax purposes see Diane DeLooza.


Are You Planning to Visit?

Homemade casseroles are available for giving to someone who is recovering from an illness, surgery, or who just needs a “hug”.  Contact the church office at 536-9821, Pam Scutt at 536-2791, or Cheryl Stewart at 536-2570 to make arrangements.

Sponsored by American Baptist Churches International Ministries (IM), this is a week of fellowship with all our international missionaries and many international leaders; worship services, Bible Studies and workshops. Celebrating 200 years of IM’s global mission work!


Green Lake Christian Writers Conference, August 17-22, 2014

Christian writers, both new and experienced, gain and practice skills while networking with other Christian writers, editors and instructors.


Mission Receipts

Thank you for the $233 you gave to our Mission Budget on January 12th. In order to be able to give our $600 donation to Food for the Needy this month as we usually do, we need to receive a minimum of $460 between the 19th and the 26th. Thank You.

Worship at the Well

Did you know that there is a worship service for people who can’t get to worship on Sunday mornings? There is a service at 5:00 pm at the Well at 121 E. Elm Street. Please share this information with people you know who can’t get to church on Sunday mornings.


Classics in Religion

Cobblestone Springs invites you to come explore a tapestry of diverse topics with deeply spiritual threads. You are invited to attend one or many sessions. The group meets weekly at the PY Public Library on Monday mornings from 11 am to noon. For more information call Mary Beth Gamba at 315- 595-8899. A freewill offering is requested.

Community Café

Tuesday, January 28th, at PY United Methodist Church from

5:30 – 7 pm. This is a free meal provided by the church members for the community. Come, eat and fellowship.


Yates County Food Distribution

The next local food distribution will be on Friday, January 31st from 9 am to Noon here at FBC. If you have it on your heart to volunteer some time to help out, you would be most welcome.

You are invited to bring your children to the nursery during the service for a safe and Christian environment so that you may more fully experience Worship. Following today’s service please come to enjoy coffee, refreshments and fellowship in the Great Room.
