Our Church's Mission

Mission ~ in New York State ~ Norwich ~
The Place, in Norwich, NY, serves young people in many ways under the mission statement: “to love all youth as they are, and help them reach their full potential as they become responsible, contributing members of society.” In her position as Executive Director, Rebecca Sands, oversees a variety of programs, including The KIDS Program, Teen After-School Program (TASP), Summer Youth Volunteer Program (SYVP), Summer Youth Employment Training Program (SYETP) and Headwaters Youth Conservation Corps) HYCC). The KIDS Program seeks to strengthen children’s self-esteem and decision-making with structured activities throughout the school year and summer. A school-year program, TASP offers teens a safe learning environment with a variety of enriching activities, including homework help, educational offerings and community volunteer opportunities. SYVP is a summer program that teaches youth to be responsible, understand work expectations and become more engaged in the community through volunteerism. A summer employment program, SYETP offers youth practical training to develop social and work-readiness skills.
