Pastor: During the season of Epiphany God offers us light for our journey.
People: In the light, we see clearly!
Pastor: Sometimes seeing life and ourselves clearly, is painful.
People: God give us the courage to see the truth about ourselves even when it hurts.
Pastor: Seeing the truth about ourselves is a gift from God.
People: Seeing the truth about ourselves is a door that opens us to an authentic spiritual life.
*Hymn “The Church's One Foundation” No. 442
Old Testament Reading Genesis 3 OT pg. 4
Creator God, You always see us for who we are. So often we hide from the truth about ourselves. It is painful to see reality. Yet only in reality are we set free to become our best selves. No pain. No gain. Help us to understand the depth of your love so that we dare to face the truth about ourselves. Amen.

A New Year's Prayer
Dear Lord, Please give me:
A few friends who understand me and remain my friends;
A work to do which has real value;
without which the world would be poorer;
A mind unafraid to travel,
even though the trail be not blazed;
An understanding heart; A sense of humor;
Time for quiet, silent meditation;
A feeling of the presence of God;
The patience to wait for the coming of these things;
And the wisdom to recognize them when they come.
