Church  News

Official Notice

The Annual Meeting of the First Baptist Church of Penn Yan will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013. The meeting will begin at 11 am followed by an all church pot-luck luncheon.

Now Available

Your 2013 Offering Envelopes are available for you to pick up at the rear of the sanctuary.

Mary & Martha Circle

Ladies! The Circle will meet this Tuesday, January 8th, at 10:30 am. Rita Castillo will lead devotions and she will bring a dessert for us to share. Bring your own bag lunch.

Game Night

The annual Game Night hosted by the Castillo's will be on Saturday, January 12th at 7 pm. Everyone is invited!

Office for the Aging/Council of Churches Bus

Three times a year every church in the council takes a turn to drive the Handicap Bus. This bus picks up those who would otherwise, due to their limitations not be able to attend their respective churches. Our turn  (it takes two: one to drive and one to assist) is this month, June and November. Currently we need coverage on January 13 and 27th. Please see George Jensen if you can help. Many people are counting on us.

Help Wanted

FBC is searching for someone to be our “news reporter”. This person will forward information on the events at FBC to the Chronicle Express and the Dundee Observer. For more information call the church office. Coaching is available from past “reporters”.

A call is going out to help un-decorate the church. Jean B. has been under the weather and is unable to coordinate so, we need someone to set a date and get volunteers in. If someone could bring it up during the coffee hour, it would be appreciated.

Sign Me Up!

There is a new sign up sheet for Greeters and Lay Readers for the month of January.  This is a rewarding way to serve the church.

Can You Help?

In the past you have been generous to help us off-set the cost of the offering envelopes with a .25 donation. Looking at the situation in 2013, the cost (per person, per year) to provide monthly envelopes is $3.20 and weekly envelopes are $5.15. If you can make that one time donation to help off-set the cost for this year's offering envelopes it would be appreciated. Please mark that money as such. Thank you.

Mission Treasury

Thanks to your generosity, the Board of Missions was able to meet its total budget. On December 30, a “Loose Offering” of $22 added. There was no pledged income. We were able to send another $48.05 to Milly's Pantry and $200 to the One Great Hour of Sharing for Hurricane Sandy Relief in New York City. Our $920.73 balance will be applied to next year's budget. Thank you, again.

Welcome to First Baptist Church of Penn Yan. We are glad you joined us and hope you’ll feel at home, as we celebrate our faith and praise God together. In the pew in front of you, you will find a “get-to-know-you” card. Please take a moment to fill it out and place it in the offering plate.

You are invited to bring your children to the nursery during the service for a safe and Christian environment so that you may more fully experience Worship. Following today’s service please come to enjoy coffee, refreshments and fellowship in the Great Room.

A single grateful thought toward heaven

is the most complete prayer.
